we never cease to learn...that is in itself one of the wonderful aspects of being a human being you only learn as much as want to...whether that goes on for as long as you are alive or ends when you wave good-bye to school is a matter of rather insipid debate which may end with one striving to define what learning actually is...to whose benefit exactly? I am in danger of digressing here but will stop myself and return to the matter at end.
I find it most fitting that the man who has stolen all news headlines these two days past and is bound to hog them into the foreseeable future, before he hogs the annals of history, is a black man who has debunked all stereotypes of the black male. I will not argue his blackness or lack thereof. It is telling that there is only one white and varying shades of black. Coloured, African American, Caribbean....etc but they are all black. Perhaps it is a show of how maligned the black race was that those who through a microscopic chink of opportunity could somehow claim to be anything but black hastily do so??? Again danger of side-track.
"That One" is a family man if impeccable integrity, enduring passion and drive, a decorated orator of tangible spirituality who also loves to shoot hoops. How ordinary could he be? Very. Only he is not.
Obama has stripped the thin veneer that media, history, hear-say, ignorance and plain old stupidity have conspired to hide any and all good men of colour under. Here is a man of colour that holds dear all that is good about HUMAN BEINGS - black, yellow, purple, white, cream, orange and green. Obama has inspired the world to take note...and when he needs to break a sweat and unwind....the man will shoot some hoops....just like me!!!
Obama just hit a three point jumper to beat the buzzer.
